I don't know about you ,Larry0,but I think you are too well informed to contribute to the GTP debate. For me,as now(apparently) a shareholder after being forced to give up my moo cows, I have nothing but positive things to say about this fine reputable company and the prospects to give us shareholders the returns we,probably, deserve in the near future.
Please indulge me as I pontificate on the positives
1.GTP is a an outstanding Perth based company with fine West Australian directors and management.I know lots of fine WA companies and directors.I can't currently think of any but I am sure someone knows some and will advise.
2.The Chairman, and some directors and management are ex-Maquarie Bank.Surely that gives you confidance.
3.The founder and 'patriac' ,Mr John Young, is still on the Board even after selling the bulk (in value) of his shares at much higher prices. So he still has confidance.
4.The same Mr Young managed to get nearly 50,000 MIS Investors into these wonderful products that, sadly, have never really achieved what was expected. These same MIS investors probably invested for tax reasons anyway so, bugger them ,I say.And they probably would have been better off paying the tax anyway. But good old John's team of planners, accountants, etc only received a piddling 10% ish on the way through and a few happy conferences and trips. So they'll always be there as long as they have clients.
5.But mate,we also own a crap load of land that we paid up to $8,000 per hectare and ,I understand, that some of this is now worth bugger all if it has to be resold and the stumps removed. But I'm probably wrong here too.
6.Debt you ask? Selling my moo cows and the land should retire a bit of this.In fact Macquarie research says that debt to equity will be reduced to a moderate 81% and only an additional 300m shares will be issued (currently 329m outstanding). So what's the problem?Don't start me on the TREE investors. That could be painfull to all if another billion shares need to be printed.
7.Oh, you tell me that the growth in MIS business will be negative. Can't understand why. Many of the business writers may think the model stinks,it's true, and maybe the need for tax deductions won't excist this year.Oh,and just when you are getting some growth in your trees they might make an offer to take them off your hands and this may be of concern for future sales.Oh, and the model hasn't ever worked to give the returns anyway ...or so some say. Nah,too negative mate. This GTP is a blue chipper in the making.
8.A special thank you to the independent accountants and Mr Steven Cole who must be congratulated for convincing 75% of the cow owners that it was a great deal to accept 2,955 shares at 17c ($502 less some tax issues)for the $5,000(plus GST and insurance) that they paid 18 months ago. They have some really beaut accountants in The West don't they. And I'll bet they are so 'independent' that they have never shared a bottle of Margaret River Charddie with anyone from Gtp.
9.Oh, don't forget those horible 'short sellers'too.Without that scum the price would be five bucks or more ,no risk.
Look, I am sure I have given you enough grounds for agreeing with me that GTP is a quality stock going places.I'm a very happy shareholder but I really would have loved to say goodbye to Daisy and the rest of my lovely cows.
But,in case the corporate plod thinks I am at all serious in anything I write, please recognise that I am always wrong,my opinions are always laughed at,noone should ever take any notice of me and the nurse is coming with my tablets.
