Yes GDY's shareprice has been decimated.
The prevailing sentiment probably goes along the lines of:
* Any possible reward is way too far off [5 to 10 years].
* The company has been beset with project threatening technical problems from the get go which create major slippage in the management of the project.
* As the company is attempting to derive/manage a natural resource from a series of holes drilled deep into the earth the potential for further "natural disasters" [see gulf of Mexico oil rig] is always going to be there.
As in the Gulf of Mexico however none of these problems are likely to be insurmountable; lots of time and very large amounts of money will be dedicated to this solitary purpose and yes the company's shareholders will just have to wear it.
If I was 20 years younger and had a bunch of cash I could lock away for a long period of time I could not think of a more exciting company/technology to invest in.
