The right to protest?
Alright, let's go with that. Every democratic country has- to one degree or another- the right to peaceful protest. Even though it's technically illegal, all governments recognise that the citizenry has a right and indeed, even a duty- to protest the actions of their governments.
The system in Canada is no different. If these truck drivers are cranky, fine. Protest all you want. Honk your horns and down tools. Now, they blockaded the bridges which are used to facilitate trade between the USA and Canada. There is no doubt that this is highly dangerous and illegal yet if the drivers had moved on when they were asked to, there would have been no trouble.
But they didn't. They were asked to move by the authorites, they refused- and now they've been arrested and charged. Which is exactly as it should be. When a cop asks you to move your vehicle and you tell him to pound sand, expect an ass-woopin'.
