MrPeabody, What does this actually mean? I struggle to understand how any metric that "the internet has failed"."..............or is it just a random ramble?
I tried to start a general discussion about the Internet on the Technology thread.
It wouldn't allow me to proceed unless I selected a company code.
Firstly you should ask yourself whether you incurred any expense previously in the delivery of a paper copy for your electricity bill or bank statements etc I'm talking about the time you didn't incur a fee for the paper versions.
Fees were introduced to corral people onto Internet with financial duress.
From my perspective the algorithm should be as following: you use your own ISP provider until you get into a Govt. department or business website. Once you get into these website - they become your temporary web providers - all data usage expense is borne by them until you leave their web page and return back to your own ISP provider.
In my opinion this would a closer representation by digital world in replacing the paper version.
The census was a classic example as you most probably already paid for the paper versions and the Govt was hoping that majority the community would go online at their own expense, saving the Govt hundreds of million of dollars.
It isn't financial beneficial to Govt. departments and the business community to see such an improvement of the Internet.
