"South Africa now relies exclusively on imported gas from onshore Mozambique"
Renergen have reserves of nat gas (methane) today onshore in South Africa and today supplying local South African customers with LNG.
There could be room for imports of gas to South Africa for sure if their energy crisis with load shedding continues.
Renergen for reference 0.4tcf of nat gas reserves and about 0.6tcf of nat gas contingent resources.
KKO which had an asx announcement this morning with an overview on them has 6bcf of nat gas reserve for a small pilot project. But then have contingent resources of about 6tcf nat gas and a further 6tcf of prospective resources.
So kko in particular if they prove up some of that 12tcf into reserves of nat gas can supply a portion of local South African nat gas demand. Plus maybe some offshore gas projects in South Africa also potentially. Whilst Renergen the only ones today with an onshore production right have a captive hungry energy market needing lng so shouldn't have any trouble selling its nat gas over the next few years I'd guess..
