Hi Cashman,
I started this thread to show some of the people on here, that there is a reason behind Alcoa wanting a business relationship with MHM.
I don't know of any other global company, that is in a business relationship, with a company that has had the problems that MHM has had in the last 3 years.
You don't do business like that if you want to make money for your own company.
I know that for Alcoa to achieve the goals that they are aiming for, they will need companies like MHM and others to do just this.
Some here forget that Geelong is only a small step, for a much bigger step within the AL industry, not only here but also Worldwide, ATM the AL industry Worldwide is crying out for help, help to reduce the cost of making AL, as well as help in recycling the waste from within the AL industry.
Look what has happen to the Al industry in the last 3-5 years, After hitting a high of about $3,141 per tonne in March 2008 to around $1800 this year, this is why AL companies around the World, are looking at ways to reduce its end cost in making AL, be it in new fuels (from Coal to Gas) to power the AL Smelters, or more economic ways to reduce the end product of making not only AL, but also ways to recycling the waste from within the AL industry!
This is WHY ALCOA HASN'T WALKED AWAY FROM A COMPANY LIKE MHM!.....With the pass history of the last 3 years that they have had!
It's only a matter of time before the US will bad the landfill of AL waste, most other countries around the World have done just this, Canada is one of them, they export there waste from there Al industry into the US.
What the future holds in the US, regarding the landfill of waste within the AL industry will work itself out in time, if the Government at the time bans all landfill of AL waste in the US, companies like Alcoa will need to find ways to recycle the AL waste. if the price of AL goes lower then what it is ATM, AL companies will still need to find ways to reduce its cost of making AL, what better ways to do this then recycle the waste from within the AL industry! industry
