I don't think this anything new. Gaza/West Bank have been run as an open air prison by the Israelis for decades. The latest outburst from the Palestinians, while not excusable, was to be expected. You can squeeze the pips only so hard for so long before something explodes. 7 October was the explosion.
Self inflicted karma to Israel IMHO.
Does this solve the problem? No. Is it solvable? I strongly doubt it short of one side (genocidally) wiping out the other. The only real solution is both sides accepting the stalemate and agreeing to a workable solution just like Ireland is working through its troubles peaceably now.
