Might I ask a very naive question please? How does one get to a position of 140% short? Noting as you say that is mathematically impossible, if I "borrow" shares for a fee and sell them, does it mean that the next owner then also "lends" them to someone else to do the same? I don't get how you get to that point of more than the shares on offer being shorted.
