There are plenty of reasons why homosexual couples require more protections under law and there are plenty of reasons why these protections should not be covered by changing the current marriage act.
The fact that a compromised approach of the creation of a new SSM act to cover homosexual unions has not been suggested, which gives the protections homosexuals want and the protections religious institutions want, just goes to show how inept the political class are.
