Yes your speculative/hypothetical thoughts on a possible Merck buyout is indeed possible, this may explain why the SP is being manipulated down over recent times on "positive" announcements.

I saw this path/outcome happen with Unity Wireless late last year - we shareholders held out till the take-over bidder put forward a cash offer of $5 per Unity share including a fully franked special dividend, a minimum 4 bagger return to most investors, yes it could have gone higher but in the end how much profit does one require ?? Can this happen with Imugene ?? You betcha

l guess with your mentioned major shareholders its all about making money pure and simple - the more the better that is reflected in managements pay packets & shareholder dividends !!
