Just a technical point. In Australia we do not actually have our "freedom of speech" protected or enshrined in our constitution. We also do not have a bill of rights as the Americans do. We adopted the UK notion that freedom of speech was assumed and did not need to be outlined in legislation.
I know that will be a shock to most people - but we were told that when we studied Australian politics at uni.
