All markets in Europe and the US were up overnight.
DAX and CAC up around 1% withe the FTSE was up but flat.
In the US, the DOW rose 213 points (up over 300 points at one stage). The NASDAQ Biotech Index rose 18 points, the NASDAQ Composite closed up higher by 114 points and the Russell small cap index rose 15 points.
The VIX (volatility index) has fallen in the US.
China's worsening economy is still a drag on world markets.
Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole annual central banks meeting has increased investor confidence. Even though he indicated that interest rates will be "higher for longer", his comments that the US economy will be stronger was seen as a good sign.
Consumer sentiment in the US has fallen though.
