Couldn't have put it better myself I would only add that having the ability to go it alone only works if the Tech is Real and it Works, IMU have the Capital or Ability to Raise Capital and the Management Team have the skills to take the Tech all the way to Market.
If the original strategy was to sell the Tech to BP at the end of stage 2 and now it has changed it's possible this is being driven by Trial Results either good or bad. If it's good results then this is a solid strategy if it's bad results then it doesn't quite make sense to me but as always DYOR.
