According to Jordan Peterson, the world renowned psychologist, intelligence, conscientiousness and competence are the attributes required for corporate success. Clearly collaborations, combinations, macro thinking, learning from others and curiosity are all borne from and complimentary to such attributes. Imugene has benefitted immeasurably from employing personnel with such traits, and exploring the broad array of medical technologies present in the oncology arena. Saul Priceman having lunch with Yuman Fong and therein collectively developing the technology we now know to be Oncarlytics, coupled with Imugene's desire to develop that technology, is a testament to the company's wish to explore and capture possibilities. Oncarlytics and their entry into the allogenic therapy space are examples of a willingness to engage in such opportunities.
I am not looking from a different mindset to either you or O&E, merely from the perspective of a shareholder base who requires the opportunity cost of their dollars to be maximised. If drugs such as Vaxinia are indeed valuable, then they should come at a cost for all those wishing to combine with them.
Its all very well to diversify in an endeavour to enhance your existing pipeline and portfolio, but at what cost? It may very well be a worthwhile value proposition and serve to strengthen Imugene's underlying fundamentals. But what I am merely suggesting is that if it comes at the cost of further dilution, shareholder depreciation and the erosion of capital, maybe, just maybe, there are better ways to proceed.
I doubt very few individuals investing in novel technologies such as those being developed by Imugene have their blinkers on, or come from a micro perspective. Most of us I would assume think like you, that collaborations and the exchange of ideas is crucial to long term growth. The issue surrounding Imugene is that they do not have enough money to take their products to market, let alone spend time and money pursuing potential alliances at a time when their existing portfolio requires funding itself. Interest rates are currently at a premium, the stock has been excessively diluted and an extraordinarily large amount of options are in play on the register. Yes if there is an opportunity, collaboration or combination available that could both benefit and enhance their existing portfolio and pipeline of immunotherapies, go for it. But some serious commercial rewiring of the business and commercial executives in the company needs to occur if all or any of these opportunities are to be brought to fruition. The biotech well has by no means run dry, but the well available to IMU execs courtesy of the ASX certainly has.
