As far as I can tell, you are using IG to provide you with the ability to trade shares. I use Nabtrade and others use Comsec and there are many others. They are all trading platforms that additionally provide you with some form of research capabilities.

The shares you purchased are issued by IMU and are yours and not IG's.
actionnaire replyed to you and asked if you have a HIN (Holder ID Number) and any CHESS statement.
Chess statements are issued when you purchase shares and will have your HIN on it.

If you are worried if the shares are yours then I suggest creating a log in at this address Automic Registries Investor Portal. Automic are the keeper of the Share Registry for IMU and once you create an account and log in you should see your holding.

If IMU merges with someone then no doubt there will be advice from the Board of Directors as to what to do, this is why it is important to keep your details up to date at Automic.
