European markets all up overnight.
The FTSE rose 13 points (.17%), the DAX rose 126 points (.71%) and the CAC rose 61 points (.77%).
The ECB kept interest rates on hold - this was in line with market expectations. ECB also presented their expectations and growth targets.
2.3% average inflation for 2024, 2% in 2025 and 1.9% in 2026. Growth was low at .6%. Suspect that these will change over time.
In the US, the DOW rose 130 points (.34%), the NBI was up less tha 1 points (.003%), the NASDAQ Composite rose 241 points (1.51%) and the Russell small cap index rose 16 points (.81%).
JP Morgan commented on the BITCOIN surge:
"Froth on risk assets like BITCOIN will delay any interest rate cuts". BITCOIN currently sits at around US$67,600.
New unemployment claims in the US amounted to 217K (unchanged from previous week). Total unemployment claims at 1.9mil (rise of just 8k).
Non-farm employment data out tomorrow.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield at 4.10%.
Oil price little changed - Brent crude at US$83 per barrel.
Gold price continues its upward trajectory - US$2,158 per oz.
