Although not an exhaustive list of possible explanations for the weak share price, I observe major drivers of weakness include:

    No sensitive clinical trial announcements
    Continued cash burn and,
the usual May/June tax loss selling period.

This is the regular time of year I have my cash position topped up, so I can genuinely look at buying some of the companies I have my eyes on that have disappointed the markets.

Commonly referred to as "the dogs of the Dow" they nearly always have fleas (problems), they are often short of capital and their industry is out of favour.

In the interests of disclosure, my May/June purchases generally end up in the trading portfolio rather than investment, but more often than not a 10% to 30% return in less than 3 or 4 months and I trade out.

My recent accumulations of IMU (all under water I might add), fall into this basket. I have a large core holding I will not sell. I also have a smaller, though not insignificant, trading account holding that I will sell below 9.3c - 9.6c to generate an acceptable short term trading profit. As the price gets closer to 10c, the number of sellers increases significantly, so I need to be active below that threshold.

This plan does not always work, but does better than 60/40 to produce trading profits committing effectively no long term capital.

The IMU naysayers have been decidedly more vocal in recent weeks, which suits my strategy fairly well.

I invite any "sell" posters to re-post this entry in December, 2024 at which time my short term strategy will have been proven to be either insightful or foolish. I can wear either outcome and acknowledge my approach is not infallible. It keeps me attentive but not anxious to movements in my highly concentrated long term portfolio.

To those who are here as simple hopeful punters, I can only trust you have some sort of exit strategy as IMU has been an absolute roller coaster oer the last 3 or 4 years.
