In retrospect, I believe the most beneficial investment philosophy, and I only say this because of the share price volatility, is to both trade IMU and invest long if able to. I know most do one or the other, but surely there is a way to both trade if you have the ability and skills set, and to put a nice pile of reasonably cheaply obtained shares away never to touch, in the hope of making some huge $$$. If I had the necessary skills myself, I think I might have played IMU that way. Perhaps regrettably, I don’t have that skills set, so I bought a fair quantity for a long hold, not most of my portfolio, but enough to ensure a comfortable retirement (already started mind you) if success eventuates.
As I said, I never got into TA, but I do see that if one has the necessary funding, they could definitely profit from both trading and the long wait, so I envy those who can do that with some success.
I remain hopeful and confident, and I still hold the firm belief that despite a depressive share price, and a management that appears to be testing the patience of many, with decisions not aligning to some shareholders outlook, hopes and ‘dreaming’, IMU remains for me, a choice that I see making substantial profit for all of us long holders. Of course, only time will reveal whether or not some of the more questionable managerial decisions regarding personnel etc., were ok or disastrous, but overall the fundamentals are still strong, the science, as debatable as it appears to some, is still making sense, and much more is yet to play out. This is of course my views only and the market will see what it does and wants, ignoring my needs and plans mostly without favour or ill will. Mostly I am bewildered by what it does, but I have to accept what I have no hope of influencing or changing.
Which is what brings me to HC. I do not think that HC and its contributors can in any way influence the markets. That is wishful thinking. One only has to look at how many investors some stocks have. Some have 20 to 30 thousand like IMU, or LTR or PLS etc., and others over 100,000. We only see a very small handful of investors here on HC, and I accept that we mostly seem to be a bunch of somewhat overly optimistic and self indulged investors that for whatever reason have decided to get personally involved. I am no exception. Yet, we are here, and we seem to like being here. I like differing views, but more so I like the camaraderie fellow investors offer.
I too don’t mind reasonable and non-abusive debate. I must admit I am quite passionate and sometimes voice my opinion with a bit of enthusiasm. Whether that is a virtue or a fault I’ll leave for others to decide. I do know though that we are ALL investors, regardless of the choices we make, so we all have that at least in common.
One thing is for certain, IMU has challenges ahead of it. Hopefully they can meet and prosper from these challenges. Oncology is such a crowded space, and the competition appears ongoing, disruptive and ever evolving. From an earlier post by
