A question for anyone that understands the science here -
Am I right in thinking that Lymphodepletion creates the environment necessary to allow the CAR-T cells to do their job?
The reason I’m asking is that it seems like the toxicity issues Dr Shah is talking about are associated with the Lymphodepletion process (he mentions at 7.25mins that “all cases of neurotoxicity were attributed tofludarabine” – the ‘Flu’ part of FluCy)?
It might make no difference whatsoever, but if that’s where the toxicity is coming from (and not from Azer-Cel itself), then are there ways of achieving Lymphodepletion other than FluCy? Or is it just a case of continuing to try different doses of FluCy (which they seem to be doing at the moment)?
I have no medical/scientific background, so apologies if these are stupid questions.
