Not naive at all, mate.
I think they are keeping track of the "off treatment" patients - within the limits of time and patient consent. The case study of the "off treatment" CheckVacc patient indicates that they are doing it - or they would not have known about her remarkable turnaround in health:

Data on patient condition after moving on to a different type of treatment could not be included in the MAST trial results - because it's not possible to determine for sure whether any improvement is due to Vaxinia, or to the new treatment. However - any consistent improvement across "off treatment" patients would certainly be very encouraging.
