UK grocery inflation data showed a rise of 3.7% in December.
EU inflation data showed a rise to 2.4% in December - in line with expectations.
In the US, the DOW fell 178 points (.42%), the NBI rose 37 points (.85%), the NASDAQ Composite tumbled 375 points (1.89%) and the Russell small cap index fell 16 points (.74%).
US jobs openings data showed an increase in October to 8.1mil - up from 7.8mil in October.
US jobs data will come out on Friday.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield continues to rise - now at 4.687%
Oil prices continue to rise - Brent crude now at US$77.06 per barrel.
Gold price is up slightly to US$2,650 per oz.
