    Global markets were mixed overnight.

In Europe, the FTSE fell 22 points (.28%), the DAX rose 138 points (.69%) and the CAC rose 15 points (.20%).

UK markets fell because if the fiscal woes being experienced there.

EU stocks rose on news that Trump will raise tariffs gradually (month to month) rather than being aggressive and raising them all at once.

In the US, the DOW rose 221 points (.52%), the NBI fell 79 points (1.84%), the NASDAQ Composite fell 43 points (.23%) and the Russell small cap index rose 24 points (1.13%).

Note the fall in the NBI which is underlying a weakness in the biotech sector.

US PPI data (first of two sets of inflation data out this week) came in at 3.3% in December. This was up from 3% in November but less than what the market was expecting.

US Treasury 10 year bond yield sits at 4.787%

Oil prices remain high - Brent crude at US$80.14 per barrel.

Gold price is at US$2,677 per oz.

BITCOIN rose strongly - now at US$96,540.
