Big news overnight was China's AI chatbot "Deepseek". This has sparked alarm in global markets and is seen as a serious rival to US AI development. It uses far less computing power than its US rivals.
The US markets were mixed overnight.
The DOW rose 289 points (.65%), the NBI rose 36 points (.81%), the NASDAQ Composite plummeted 612 points (3.07%) and the Russell small cap index fell 23 points (1.03%).
US Fed has its monthly meeting tomorrow - markets expectations are that the US fed will NOT cut interest rates as the current inflation rate is still above the threshold required.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield fell to 4.528%
Oil prices fell - Brent crude is at US$76.16 per barrel.
Precious metal prices fell - Gold is sitting t US$2,741 per oz.
BITCOIN slumped to US$101,850.
