As a ray of hope, my DIL was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2.5 years ago with pancreatic cancer aged 53. She had 8 months of horrible chemo, then Whipple surgery ( which removes and remodels major organs), a subsequent infection which ultimately led to more major surgery to insert a mesh after herniation across her entire abdomen. Her liver was in very bad shape but not cancerous. during this time she also worked extremely hard on her dietary health, included a range of natural therapies (with the support and blessing of the medical staff at the hospital, particularly the Olivia Newton John at the Austin Hospital Melbourne), worked with a naturopathic oncologist, had oncology massages, took a course of medicinal cannabis and a range of dietary regimes. Its been a long hard journey but she is doing really well, officially cancer free after 18 months and advancing well in healing from her surgeries and the after effects of chemo. A way to go yet, but with the love and support of her loving and loyal husband and family she is thriving.
