The FTSE rose 9 points (.11%), the DAX fell 15 points (.07%) and the CAC fell 39 points (.49%).
UK is to boost its defence spending to 3% of GDP over Russia fears and doubts about US support.
German GDP declined by .2% in Q4 2024 (GDP declined by .3% in 2023).
US markets were also mixed overnight. NVIDIA and other tech companies will report earnings this week and that seems to be adding downward pressure on the NASDAQ.
The DOW rose 159 points (.37%), the NBI fell by 29 points (.64%), the NASDAQ Composite fell 260 points (1.35%) and the Russell small cap index fell by 8 points (.38%).
NBI has copped 3 negative sessions of reasonably large drops. Biotech sector is not doing that well in the US lately.
The US dollar fell against other currencies as the bond yields weakened.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield fell to 4.292%
Oil prices fell - Brent crude is at US$72.63 per barrel.
Precious metal prices fell - Gold price is at US$2,913 per oz.
BITCOIN slumped to US$88,106. Bad night for cryptocurrencies with 10% declines.
