Problem is that takes time - factories to ramp up production, building new factories etc.
Trumps team don't seem to have taken that into account and all that will be achieved is that prices will rise in the interim and some industries will be damaged beyond repair. Segment on the news today that fresh flowers produced in Canada will be priced out of the US market and that will mean shortages in the US. OK, not a main item but indicative of the overall markets.
I suspect that the slow down in US manufacturing is pricing in the effect of tariffs. US will have higher inflation and the game is not over as Canada will put its own tariffs on US goods into play so we can expect reciprocal tariffs over the next few months in a tit for tat trade war.
This is not a good thing for anyone.
