You do realise what the impacts on the global economy would be if Trump pays of all that debt? How this debt goes a long way to establishing the effective value of the US dollar and the impact of it on this if it is substantially paid of?

How much of that debt is in the form of treasures, bonds, and similar, held by big corporations, banks, and nations around the world and paying it off will affect them?

What will happen to the value of the US dollar if they pay it off? How would this affect the ability of the US to export and trade?

You do understand that sovereign debt is not debt in money like when we take out a loan?
That it is one of the major things that defines what money actually is as a promissory note, a share effectively in the nations wealth, and how debt like this is effectively a way of increasing the number of share issued and paying off is effectively a buy back that would decrease the amount of shares/money issued and actively flowing and trading in the economies around the world. That far less people, in the US, and around the world will be able to have and use US dollars to trade with as the value of a single dollar will be beyond their ability to hold.

How doing this will splinter the US economy, between those that are wealthy enough to hold US dollars, and those that are not, and force much of the global economy to move to less expensive trading currencies.
