I think there are more than a few who feel your pain, it may very well be great again, but will be starting from a lot lower base.
When the media is completely owned by the rich it’s much harder for the common folk to figure out what is true and what is crap.
Albert Einstein said as much in 1948 “ One day all the papers will be owned by rich men, how will the working class be able to make an informed decision”
It is a rich man’s sport in today’s world the very richest own all the media, we are living with the reality.
