There is increased volatility in global markets at the moment with huge swings in both directions. Most movements are not even based on any news - and, sometimes moving in the opposite expected direction to news.
Last night, global markets were all in positive territory after being largely in "correction" mode for the last week.
In Europe, the FTSE rose 89 points (1.05%), the DAX rose 419 points (1.86%) and the CAC rose 90 points (1.13%).
UK GDP contracted .1% in January. Markets had expected a .1% increase. The January figure is down on Decembers .4% rise.
In the US, the DOW rose 674 points (1.65%), the NBI rose 24 points (.56%), the NASDAQ Composite rose 451 points (2.61%) and the Russell small cap index rose 50 points (2.53%).
Latest survey in the US showed that 54% of Americans disapprove of how the US economy is being run (58% disapprove of the tariffs on Canada).
US consumer sentiment has sunk to its lowest level in 2 years on fears of inflation.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield is again on the rise and sits at 4.32%
Oil prices rose - Brent crude at US$70.51 per barrel.
The gold price is at US$2,982 per oz.
BITCIN rose to US$84,476.
