The FTSE fell 76 points (.88%), the Dax fell 298 points (1.33%) and the CAC fell 125 points (1.58%).

Us markets were mixed but a bit strange as well. The DOW was strongly up but the other indices were all down.

The DOW rose 417 points (1.00%), the NBI fell 84 points (1.95%), the NASDAQ Composite fll 23 points (.14%) and the Russell small cap index fell 11 points (.56%).

Credit rating agencies - Moody's and Goldman Sachs have doubled the chances of a US recession to 40%. Citing tariffs and inflation as the major movers.

President Trump’s autotariffs have customers and dealers spooked.

At the Lexus of Route 10 dealer in the New Jersey suburbs, the showroom floor was buzzing more than normal for a weekday at the end of the month ahead of the 25% tariffs on foreign cars that are poised to take effect on April 2.

“Well, we're seeing people come in; they want to buy cars because they're afraid,” said Tom Maoli, the owner of Celebrity Motor Car Company, which runs Lexus of Route 10 as well as BMW, Ford, and Mercedes dealerships and a few others. “The average car in the United States of America now sells for $40,000, so you're talking about a $10,000 increase. … They're buying. They want to buy. Now.”

The smooth-talking and sharply dressed dealer claims the average auto payment will go up by a whopping $300 per month.

US Treasury 10 year bond yield slipped to 4.211%.

Oil prices rose - Brent crude is at US$74.66 per barrel.

Precious metal prices rose. Gold is at record levels - US$3,123 per oz.
