While seeing the shareprice hitting 12 month lows is not pleasantfor anyone, a drop of $1000 on an investment of 1,000,000 shares is hardly earthshattering, particularly if you do not realise that loss.
Sadly the psychological impact is more the concern rather thanreal evidence the science is not up to scratch.
Many investors behave like sheep and panic when others are panicking,this is where the real investors swoop in, as they know when the fundamentals ofa company are sound and the shareprice takes a hammering it is ripe for the picking.
The uncertainty in the market is palpable at the moment, allthe chatter is about inflation, deflation and recessions, and many investors arelooking at their super and thinking, “my God, I’m not going to have enough to seeme out”!
Talking to a couple of financial advisers I know they see peopledaily, looking for reassurance and some certainty that this is only temporary, asit is and always will be.
Why do retirees think they can afford a coffee one day and notthe next, the simple answer is panic!
We are invested in a biotech with no income and the hope thatwhat they are testing will one day bring about results that will slow cancer downor if we are lucky provide a cure in some patients.
It is a risk, probably an 80/20 risk if we are honest, if thingsdon’t work out as hoped we may finish up with 10% of our capital, this will hurt,but we will live on.
However, and this is the rub, if what we hope could happen/doeshappen many lives could be extended, indeed saved by this Company and many of uswelded on investors may set our future families up for many years to come.
So for those on the precipice that want to cut and run, do whatyou must, but at least give this company a chance to show you what is possible beforeyou realise that dreaded loss.
