The FTSE rose 233 points (3.04%), the DAX rose 891 points (4.53%) and the CAC rose 263 points (3.83%).
European markets were following the yesterdays US lead. The tariff pause pushed European markets into positive territory.
US markets slipped back after its massive rises the day before.
The DOW fell 1014 points (2.50%), the NBI fell 153 point (3.91%), the NASDAQ Composite fell 737 points (4.31%) and the Russell small cap index fell 81 points (4.27%).
US markets again fell because of the tariff war with China. Trump announced that the actual tariff on China is now 145% - as it included the original 20% imposed. This surprised the markets again with tariff amounts changing yet again. Tariff changes are making markets very volatile at the moment.
Tariffs even off-set the good CPI data that came out showing US CPI went up 2.8% in March - lower than market expectations of 3%. Food prices are till rising faster than average inflation.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield rose to 4.414%
Oil prices rose - Brent crude at US$63.52 per barrel.
Gold price is up and sits at US$3,173 per oz.
BITCOIN fell to US$79,664.
