ANZAC day means many things to us all, but the word that wraps it all up for me is Sacrifice.
Those young men and women that sacrificed so much for others, and of course those that have given the ultimate Sacrifice with their lives, all so that we could live free of oppression and totalitarian authority.
Today we remember them and give thanks for what we now have due to their service.
Imugene also gives so that others can have better lives, some only for a few more months with loved ones, some thankfully years.
Scientists give their expertise, whilst giving support and care to these patients.
More importantly patients give with the knowledge that is accumulated throughout trials that helps our team to improve the chances for future sufferers of cancer.
This in itself is often the ultimate Sacrifice, knowing the treatment they are undertaking while providing some hope, it is still experimental and offers no guarantees and the possibility of new side effects they must endure.
Our thoughts today are with family and friends who have lost loved ones, both those that lost their lives on distant lands to defend our way of life, and to those fighting on another battlefield so that future cancer sufferers can one day be cured of this insidious disease.
Thanks also to the team at Imugene for all that you do for cancer sufferers.
