But in response to your comment, safety is simply a box that needs to be ticked. It isn't why people (or BP) invest. Both companies need to produce results that BP find impactful enough to sit up and take notice.

My (very amateur) take is that people are invested in IMU because it has several irons in the fire and they think/ are gambling that it only takes one to pay off. Time will tell, and I really hope one of them does. You guys make money and cancer gets a kick in the nuts.

I think many are invested next door because although it has a single iron in the fire, the combination of first/ best in class and results of previous clinical trials/ multiple applications for it's use, make many think it's an exciting prospect and a case of when, not if. The mindset is not "we hope this works", the mindset is "hurry up and prove what we think we know".

I don't want to over generalize on every single investor's mindset, it's more my two penneth worth on why people over there are getting excited about first dosing.

IMU is like Brentford in the EPL. You might not be everyone's first team, but most would be happy to see you do well.
