This more than likely sounds silly and possibly naive but if there was a marked reduction in sellers would the price of shares therefore go up!!
I read somewhere that a company was under attack from short sellers and another group organised to buy shares which neutralised the short selling.
If enough shareholders made the comittement not to sell for a period of say 1 month, that may create further interest in buying.
