    While I agree that there is a need to invest in alternative cancer treatments, it is not true that chemo conditioning required for conventional CAR-T is mild or low risk. The chemo conditioning is intense as it needs to deplete the patient's immune system leaving the patient at high risk of infection - conditioning is often more intense than many chemo cancer treatments.

    In regards the new in vivo CAR-T approach it is early days, but there are around a half a dozen companies working in this area now. The promise of having an "off the shelf" treatment where the activated cancer directed T cells are generated inside the patient's body without the need to create patient customised cells ex-vivo and immune depletion is very, very attractive. It is certainly an approach I will be watching closely.
