The FTSE rose 5 points (.061%), the DAX rose 86 points (.36%) and the CAC fell 31 points (.40%).
UK's CPI surged to 3.5% in April - up from 2.6% in March. Core inflation rose to 3.8% up from 3.4% in March. This has put serious doubt on an interest rate cut in June.
US markets plunged overnight.
The DOW fell 806 points (1.91%), the NBI fell 84 points (2.01%), the NASDAQ Composite fell 270 points (1.41%) and the Russell small cap index fell 59 points (2.80%).
Markets have a few concerns that drove markets into negative territory.
There has been aflare up of US-China trade tensions over computer chips after Trump warned that US companies hould not use AI chips mad by Huawei which undermines the Geneva trade deal.
There are serious divisions in Congress over the Trump tax cut bill which is igniting fears of a deficit blow out.
Trump has demanded that companies "eat tariff costs" and not to lift prices. Companie are not able to do this without serios losses in profits.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield rose to 4.596% Bond yields have surged in the US.
Oil price fell - Brent crude is at US$64.81 per barrel.
Precious metal prices rose - gold is at US$3,318 per oz.
BITCOIN is again in record territory and is at US$108,516. It briefly went over US$109k.
