Hopper had the big opportunity to restore some confidence by just making a tiny little change to his consolidation plan. Announce a deal first, then consolidate. Depending on the details, the sp could have gone back to 3c and then restarted at $1.
But, knowing exactly what will happen, he chose the sp-destruction way. Consolidate first with no reason given, promise a reason " in due course " but don't follow it up.
