Patience
We talk a lot on HC about why this or that is, or, is not happening, it seems that many of us investors just cannot stand the nothingness that often exists in a companies journey.
Imugene has been an adventure for many of us, some that have made huge profits when the shareprice hit its highs in 2021, and then on the opposite side of the scale, those that bought in on the rise seeing potential for big profits and then madly chasing the price down to its current lows.
This demonstrates the fickle nature of the sharemarket and how easily things can turn from the diamonds to the stone in the blink of an eye, this is as close to gambling as one can get without losing money instantly.
Along the way there have been a trail of crumbs dropped by management that have been picked up by the more, shall we say adventurous of gamblers (sorry investors), that induced us to keep buying as the promised land was in sight.
We all continue to hope for this promised land, and indeed it is still possible given that we can still reach it, with promising results from these trials continuing to advance these potential life saving treatments.
Many investors have dropped off the ship due to the wearing down of their patience and the very real burning of capital, which is common in small to medium biotechnology companies, and the lack of any real news!!
Many more will drop of due to Consolidation which reduces their holding to very small parcels, and of course many will see the end of the financial year as a way to lessen their tax on more profitable investments.
The remainder of us holders are a combination of those that are in deep and had pinned their hopes on shall we say a ‘multi multi bagger’, and those that believe in the potential science and the brilliant people behind it (i.e. Yuman Fong).
Whichever camp you are in, you would have experienced a very real test of your patience, and that is where real investors sit, in the knowledge that there is no such thing as instant success, or instant returns on investment.
“It is possible to make money— and a great deal of money—in the stock market. But it can't be done overnight or by haphazard buying and selling. The big profits go to the intelligent, careful and patient investor, not to the reckless and overeager speculator." J P Getty
