Yes - it's a lovely speech, but not entirely accurate imo.
It assumes that cynics or critics have never been in the arena, It assumes they have never lost, and never won.
Imagine for a moment if some of our greatest cynics and critics do so because they have been in that arena - possibly many times over.
Imagine if they have tasted both victory and defeat.
Perhaps this is what makes them cynical and critical - because they are now much wiser for having done so.
