Clearly you have never had a cent more than your salary/wage. If you did, what would you do with it in today's investment climate?? Anyone with any understanding would realise that a wide spred of ordinary shares (and perhaps some property as well) is the safest - and by a long way. Even in more normal interest rate times, shares are still near the top because, in the long term, they do keep up with inflation,
