Theres an interview / press thing with putin, he says that hes concerned if ukraine joins nato and then goes to “reclaim” Crimea and Donetsk then nato will be dragged in if russia fights them, then he notes the nuclear weapons on both sides. If he can take the Ukraine then he gets a buffer. Not great reasoning, they invaded in the first place. But its clearer than the current “we dont know why hes doing it”.
