Anydaynow, there's nothing worse when a relative suffers from cancers of any type, and my heart goes out to you, and i hope any outcomes bring a smile to all your families' faces. And following on from your statement "doesn’t do anything to the underlying root system.", the exact opposite is true. In all my treatments an ugly "root" did emerge, was washed away and nothing ever reappeared. I've seen ghastly photos of people using salve with horrible "injuries" but personally believe they have not followed guidelines of use. But seriously, not interested in promoting anything. It works for me. End of story. @Zior I planted a garden of milkweed once but got sick of trying to squeeze drop out of drop from the stems. But just noticed yesterday that there is a cream available based on the milkweed. Another natural product, like bloodroot, but perhaps not as potent. And endorsed by BP, it seems.
