First let me say that I am certainly no fan of that Gillard/Brown rabble.
Nevertheless, in all sincerity, you pose the question"why intrest rate are 400% than other nations" but totally fail to address it.
You may not understand this but the fact is that our interest rates, high compared to say the US and the UK, are a reflection of our strong economy relative to those other countries. A major benefit is that in the event of our economy begining to look pear-shape the RBA can use it as a safety/exhaust valve by decreasing the official rate. Something countries with a zero or minute rate are unable to do.
Having this control mechanism is why we in Australia are the envy of so many other countries.
Also, remember this situation was established and set in stone by previous goverments particularly in the Howard/Costello era.
