I have been quite a loyal investor of AWC for two decades since it was split off from WMC.

It provided great exposure to an important asset, and I enjoyed the run up to the GFC. Always assumed it would return to its peak at some time over the past 14 years, OR, being chronically undervalued it would be snapped up by Alcoa and we would collect a smaller but fair portion of the upside.

Now I find it very hard to believe that this will ever happen.

Comparing AWC to another spinoff S32 is a sobering experience. Glad I own both.

Is AWC just good for trading and should be avoided as a long term hold?

I'd really appreciate any counter-argument for why we shouldn't exit this stock.
