I note the scheduled march rebalance of the asx200 has been postponed. However I have been doing some research tonight on the composition of the ASX200 today vs the top 200 shares sorted by market cap.
I noticed AIA ranks highly #57 by market cap at 6.5b at todays prices. I looked at 1 year chart and can see $8 and $9 as far back as 12months ago.
forgive my ignorance but why is this stock not part of the ASX 200 ? I had a close look at the criteria but i cant work it out
"A security must be listed on the ASX and be an ordinary or preferred equity stock (e.g. no bonds or warrants etc.). Its average daily market capitalisation for the previous six months must be considered institutionally investable and meet a minimum benchmark size. Liquidity must be adequate and its public float (shares not owned by company founders, directors, government agencies etc.) must also meet a minimum requirement."
given the postponement for now of the rebalancing of the asx200 I am trying to stay ahead of the curve by looking only a weekly basis at what the composition of the asx200 might look like in the future... and therefore which stocks will by bought later by holders of index funds /etfs etc etc for example A200 , superfunds etc etc
I did a bit of research specifically on AIA but cant seem to crack this one. any help appreciated thanks!
