There's a lot to unpack there MM.
The government's subsidies are progressively reducing as the renewable energy industry establishes itself.
Generous FITs are gone for example.
That said, the renewable energy industry still has a long way to go. Energy storage is the key so until that gets established, we'll be seeing subsidies for a while yet. Less subsidies for panels but more for batteries. Maybe a few for evs if Labor wins.
Note that the government is still subsiding the fossil industry even after a century of ops.
What the government should be doing is giving the coal generators some certainty. Either through Turnbull's NEG or some other mechanism. A predictable way that they can manage their investments with confidence and the government can get right out of the way.
The government is building new resources btw. They are paying for you to put it on your roof.
And seeing that Australia is leading the world with domestic roof top solar, I'd say it's working.
