Pretty much all the deli cheese just as an example comes from Europe and there would be plenty of others such as various chocolates, etc.
It all contributes to increased costs - which its the point of the post.

Then there is a lot of packaging used by manufacturers which is imported from south-east Asia Those companies rely on additive chemicals that also come from Europe, which is normally shipped through the Suez canal. The increased cost of insurance for ships, adds to the overall cost of ALL imported goods no matter where they come from with Australia being the 5th largest consumer in the world of maritime shipped (imported) goods as per the Australian Navy's own white paper from 2023 means this is another impact to costs.

Does that impact fruit, meat, milk? No.. but those prices also fluctuate up and down based on other variables, supplier agreements, supply vs demand, etc. and are not subject to the same constant price increases like grocery goods.

There is not one single cause, its a culmination of issues. So illogical? Only for someone that struggles to see the forest for the trees.
Its also easy to spot people that have no idea about supply chain and how much events around the world impact the price of something that seems completely unrelated.
