As opaline and others have so patiently tried to point out;
Hamas is not an army, it is a democratically elected political party.
When Isreal uses massive, overwhelming, and illegal force in the most densely civilian populated area of the world, there really is no hiding behind civilians. There simply is no place to hide.
Hamas spent the vast majority of it's energy developing civil infrastructure ( roads, power grids, water systems,etc) all of which were directly and illegallly destroyed by Isreal.
Truly, I don't know why I bother trying to explain this to you, really just setting the record straight after yet another inaccurate post.
