SB2000 I really dont think is oil at all but rather the ingrained feeling of inadequacy that the leaders of Hamas, and other extreme groups groups have. The inadequacy stems from many factors, many being historical such as the win by isreal in 1967 to the collapse of the islamic empire. They use anti-sematic views held by christains to gain support. The use of rhertoric that they did worse, what the japanese did etc, is just trying to divert the real issue. Hamas does not want peace
there are many extreme islamists who beleive and have the reestablishment of the caliphat of bagdad to rule the world again under sharia law and all other faiths become subserveint to Islam.
many of the extremists are living in a medival world rather than the 21st century hence the inability to factor peace into their goals.
Until hamas and it supporters decide that peace rather than the destruction of a group of people is the moral thing, these battle will continue at the expense of lives. but then the islamic extremist do not believe in peace on earth but in heaven and all those that die are martyred and therefore better off.
